Just saw this group notice from Ellen.
Hello Pretties. Sharing this. Beebo says: “We’ve had a great un but it’s finally time to close the Duchess doors. A farewell party is being planned for the end of Aug, with a closing date on Sept. 1st. Stay tuned for party date and details. Thank you to all the wonderful people who made the Duchess such a special place for me” ~Beebo
The Duchess, in all its variations was home to me for a long time after I started hanging out in the so-called Lesbian-Circle. I found the place quite by accident and immediately made friends there, some of whom I am pleased to say, are still friends.
However, as I mentioned last October, the Duchess as a popular hangout seemed to have had its heyday gone past, even then. So although it is sad to see the going of what is, among a particular group of people, an iconic landmark; it is better for it to go out with a blaze than fade away and rot neglected as so much of SL does.
Everything is cyclical in SL. Who knows when and where the next Duchess will appear?
Lately been hanging out at Bella & Kathy’s new(ish) club, B&K Burlesque Club. Place is rocking tonight with Selena spinning tunes and the girls all looking hawt on the dance floor. I was rocking the prrrrple look and busting some moves while Guinn, Aisling, Kathy and Ella (Ella Ella Umbrella…) got down to the beats. Hot in red Rhy Amata and others joined us in and out (not pictured).
For the longest time, I have visited a venue in Second Life called Greenhouse. If you know SL and you’ve been in-world a fair amount of time you probably know it. It has been there since SL started I dare say, and I don’t think it’s ever been updated or changed.
Basically it is just that: a giant greenhouse, botanical-garden style with adjoining gardens and meadows of flowers. It’s all very nice and sits on the edge of the Blake Sea where it’s accessible to those of us who sail and have direct water access. I have spent many hours sitting on the dock there talking with friends and it’s nice to sail to it, moor in the channel and walk around in the sunshine and flowers.
So tonight it was nice to sail from Snug Harbor, Katie’s home and make the short trip across half a dozen regions to explore it.
As anyone who knows me in SL is aware, I am an incessant tinkerer and customizer. I’m like that in RL too; I cannot be happy with anything unless I’ve somehow put my own mark on it. Ever since I got the Oceanic yacht, I’ve been eager to customize it in the way that I’ve seen other sailors in SL do. But it seemed more difficult for me than say, Bandit owners. Today I finally figured few things out and got the Seakatt looking like she means serious business!
Guinn and I attempted to take her out for a trip around the Blake Sea and we were doing so well when, as usually happens, a bad region sinks the boat and kicks you offline! Oh well, but at least we looked good as we sank below the waves!
So after about two years of not really changing Serai Lodge any; I decided it was finally time to kiss the old barn goodbye and try for a new look. I ultimately decided to go back to the Cordoba Villas which I had looked at months ago. Tonight, Guinn bought me some nice Cthulhu chairs to go into the living room so it immediately called for some Innsmouth photos and a general Arkham theme. The couch was comfy, it was a long day…
